Writing Coach

Do you need someone to help you with your writing? Do you want to write, but don’t know how or where to start and think that you can’t write because of that? Think again! I can probably help you with that.

What do I do as a writing coach? Why, guide you through the process of writing, of course, from beginning to end, or wherever you are in your writing project. If you're stuck, maybe I can help you with that. I may also be able to help you address your current writing challenges or help you tackle the parts of the writing life that aren't on the page--creating time for writing in your busy life, creating a writing schedule, identifying your writing and publishing goals--to name just a few examples.

I also take the approach that I'm here to empower--and help--you, and to give you all the tools and resources that you need so that it's unnecessary for you to retain my services as a writing coach. I'll do my best to make sure that you'll have the knowledge, tools, and skills to be able to write and navigate the writing world, independent of my assistance. In other words, I'm here to help you as long as is necessary, and am always available if you become my client, feel empowered to give it a go independently, and decide that I can help you further at some point in the future after that.

Get in touch with me, via my contact page, and we can see if we’re a good fit as a team, share with me what your project is, as I consider writing coaching to be a collaborative process, just like I do with editing (below).

I look forward to hearing from you and look forward to making your writing the best it can be! Please let me know how I can help you.

Freelance editor

I’m a fiction editor, specifically for Young Adult (YA) fantasy. I dabble in other types of editing too: songs, comic book scripts, and screen and stage plays—mostly in the science fiction or comic book genres, with a little bit of crossover into the action genre as well; I also revise poetry. I’m mostly on the fiction side of things; however, I’m open to looking at anything that you might want me to edit or revise.

My approach to editing is to make suggestions, and leave it up to you, the writer, to make the final decision. I consider editing to be a collaborative process between the editor and the writer. I take this approach because I'd want the final say about my written work when working with an editor.

The types of editing that I offer are:

  1. Copy Editing: The mechanics of writing, such as spelling and grammar.

  2. Developmental Editing: Looking at the concept, such as plot and characters.

  3. Proofreading: Looking for errors.

Two to three rounds of editing should be enough to get your manuscript ready for publication.

I use the Chicago Manual of Style as my style guide and the Merriam-Webster dictionary when I'm editing.

Similar to what I said above in the Writing Coach section: I also take the approach that I'm here to empower—and help—you, and to give you all the tools and resources that you need so that it's unnecessary for you to retain my services as an editor. I'll do my best to make sure that you'll have the knowledge, tools, and skills to be able to edit your own work, independent of my assistance.  (Although it's always a good idea to get another set of eyes on your writing, and to have your work professionally edited before it goes to publication.) In other words, I'm here to help you as long as is necessary, and am always available if you become my client, feel empowered to give it a go independently, and decide that I can help you further at some point in the future after that.

I look forward to hearing from you and look forward to making your writing the best it can be! Please let me know how I can help you!
